Our Story

Willow Roots

Founded in 1992, Willow Creek Association USA (WCA) is a not-for-profit Christian organization that exists to maximize the transformative power of the local church.  WCA state, “Our vision is to see every local church reach its full redemptive potential — becoming an unbridled conduit for the transforming power of Jesus Christ. In short, we provide vision, inspiration, connection, tools, training, resources, and venues for church leaders to learn from and support one another.”

Bill Hybels, Chairman of the WCA BoardBillHybels

“When God transforms the life of just one leader, that leader can transform a church. When one church is transformed, you can transform a community. And… eventually the entire world is affected with the positive, life-changing power of Jesus Christ and the restoring work of His people.”
Bill Hybels

Willow Branches

Over the years the WCA has developed a respected history of excellence and innovation in serving local churches and their leaders. We’re privileged to serve alongside 7,000 Member Churches representing more than 90 denominations and training leaders in 85 countries. Over the course of a year 15,000 churches internationally engage with Willow’s vision, training, and resources.

In partnership with international leaders, the WCA has established affiliate offices in ten countries. WCANZ is one of those affiliates.

Additionally, the WCA has developed partnerships in more than 50 additional countries through our annual leadership training event, The Global Leadership Summit.

With more than 10,000 Member Churches in 35 countries, WCA leadership training events are now held in more than 250 cities in 50 countries each year.

In 2009 alone, 97% of WCA Member Churches indicated that the ministry has positively impacted their ability to reach and grow people for Christ.

Willow NZ

Willow Creek Association NZ (WCANZ) was founded in New Zealand in 1994.

Alan Vink, Executive Director

AlanVinkI am passionate about seeing leaders equipped to lead where they are, whether it be as a pastor, church, community or business leader, or a leader at home. When a person discovers who God has created them to be, with their unique giftings, passions and skills, there is personal growth. The WCANZ provides leaders with opportunities for life changing experiences and access to tools, resources and exposure to innovative ideas. It doesn’t matter what size or type of organisation they are leading, I desire to see each leader develop to reach their potential and the unique calling that God has for them in their community. It is only as leaders lead where they are with integrity, passion and skill, that we will see change happening in our nation.” – Alan Vink

Alan Vink has served two Baptist Churches as Senior Pastor for 20 years.  He has consulted with a variety of organisations and teaches on leadership and management subjects.  He is currently the CEO for Willow Creek Association NZ, a teaching Pastor at his home church, an adjunct lecturer at Vision College, and a Board member of several organisations.  He lives in Raglan with his wife Jeanette and family.

Who We Are

Our Ministry Departments

Global Leadership Summit

GLS-1Global Leadership Summit (GLS) is our ‘flagship’ event and is held every year as a facilitated conference with world-class speakers, presented in high quality DVD format.  Events are held throughout New Zealand during October and November.  Every year, the GLS features public events in seven – eight cities throughout NZ as well as a number of ‘Private Views’. Our goal is to have a GLS within a two hour drive of every New Zealander.

Resources

We are not a retailer and do not stock a large supply of books, etc. as we find there are many options for online purchasing that we cannot compete with.  However, we do provide a service whereby we can access bulk orders at competitive rates.  Where we are able to provide resources, they are despatched weekly. We also often sell resources at our events – usually relating to the current or past speakers at those events.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

EHS-book-1Peter & Geri Scazzero are co-founders of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (EHS).  They came to NZ in July 2013, speaking in three cities on the topics of Emotionally Healthy Leadership and Emotionally Healthy Marriage.  Willow are now in the process of setting up a new ministry stream and will appoint a National Leader to establish and develop a network of trainers within NZ who will support churches in this leadership model.

Shoeless

Shoeless was founded by Katie Boom in 2012. Katie is raising awareness and funds to make a difference in the lives of children in Cambodia – you can read more about  Shoeless Day which is in October, the first one being in 2014. As part of our Justice and Compassion ministry stream, WillowNZ supports and assists Shoeless.

Willow income comes from event registrations, membership, sales of resources (bulk orders only except at events), sponsorship and donations.
